DETAIL ITINERARY
DAY 01: HO CHI MINH (SAI GON) CITY ARRIVAL
Upon arrival, meet your guide and transfer to hotel for check-in. Sai Gon, with more than 8 million inhabitants, is the country’s commercial center. Despite the well-documented hustle and bustle, the city retains its connections to the past. Embark on a walking tour to admire Sai Gon’s historic landmarks including a stroll down Rue Catinat of Graham Greene's 'The Quiet American', which reveals several colonial classics; the Opera House, a three-story classical theatre built to entertain the French colonists (outdoor visit); the former Hotel de Ville constructed for the French bureaucrats of Indochina in 1901, now The People's Committee building with no public access; the Notre Dame Cathedral, a stunningly massive red-brick edifice with twin spires, a clear reminder that French once ruled this city (open only 3-4pm every day, otherwise just an outdoor visit); the Central Post Office influenced by Renaissance architecture; and the former Presidential Palace, headquarters of the Sai Gon Government during the American war. If time permits, drive 6km to another district of Sai Gon which most habitants are Chinese to visit Thien Hau temple built by the Cantonese congregation in the early 19th century. It was built to honor the goddess of the sea and to protect local fisherman. The temple’s interior courtyard is worth seeing with beautiful ceramic figurines and antiques shrouded in incense-smoke. It is always bustling here with worshippers from the local Chinese community. Chance to write your wishes on a small red note, stick on an incense coil and pray for your wishes come true. Return to your hotel and relax. Overnight at hotel in Sai Gon.
Meals included: None

DAY 02: SAI GON - MY THO - TRA VINH (30KM)
After breakfast, set out on an excursion to My Tho, a charming city in the Mekong Delta close to Sai Gon.  A 2-hour drive brings you through urbanized areas until you reach the river tributaries of the famous Mekong Delta! Stop over at Vinh Trang pagoda built in 1849, where you can see influences of Angkor Wat – the monk who built Vinh Trang had been to the famous Cambodian temple complex. Start cycling after the ferry crosses Tien Giang River at My Tho. Pedal along narrow roads and lanes through the lush green landscape of the Delta. Lunch is at a local home. Scout the surrounding villages on your bicycle before a final ferry brings you to Tra Vinh, a small town inhabited by ethnic Khmer. Spend the night with a local family and learn how to prepare banana cake under the guidance of a local family. Taste this traditional cake with a sip of hot tea after dinner. The locals go bed very early so it’s time settle into on your bunk. Mosquito nets and all bedding provided. Home stay in Tra Vinh.
Meals included: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

DAY 03: TRA VINH - CAN THO (82KM)
Get up when the rooster wakes you up for an early breakfast with the family. We can cycle as much or as little as desired through an area populated by Khmer people. Enjoy the cool air and breeze along the road and there are many photo opportunities, from the friendly Mekong locals and the farmers working at the velvet green rice fields and fruit gardens, to the peaceful scenery of the rivers and villages. Transfer back to Can Tho for lunch in a local Sao Hom restaurant. In the afternoon, continue riding along a tiny road leading upstream towards Long Xuyen. Phnom Penh, the capital of Cambodia, was once considered one of the most beautiful cities in the Orient, and despite its turbulent history, it still exudes a colonial charm.
