Hugging a bend of the Mekong River, Vientiane is a quaint and easygoing place compared to other frenetic capitals in the region. Start our first day discovering the most untouched capital in Indochina. The first stop is at the serene Wat Sasiket, the oldest temple that survived the Siamese war of 1828 and boasting over 8,000 Buddha statues. Just across the road is Wat Ho Prakeo, the former home of the Emerald Buddha statue, today it contains a collection of Buddha statues, antiques and artifacts found in and around Vientiane. Continue cycling along the Mekong River for 18km until you reach the Friendship Bridge, built to link Thai and Lao Mekong riverbanks. Continue for 7 km, we reach Buddha Park, a fanciful sculpture garden full of Buddhist and religious images dating back over 500 years. After a picnic lunch, return to Vientiane via Route 13, stopping by at  Patouxay (the Victory Monument) for a panoramic view of the city at the top. The next stop is That Luang Stupa, the symbol of Laos and whose original, smaller stupa contains a piece of the chest bone of Buddha. Return to your hotel around 3.30pm pm to shower and relax. Overnight in Vientiane.

Start the day early - drive out of Vientiane at 7.30am, heading north to Vang Vieng. It is a small idyllic riverside town situated in an area of beautiful karst formations. After a 30-minute drive, start cycling on a quite road through beautiful countryside, passing lush paddy fields, colorful Buddhist temples and the bustling H’mong market. After a 50km ride, turn right at the intersection and continue another 30km to Tha Lat village for lunch at the lake. This is followed by a drive to Vang Vieng – famous for its dramatic limestone karsts - and Tham Jang Cave before checking into the hotel on the Nam Song riverbank. Explore the town at your leisure for the remainder of the day - don’t miss the stunning sunset - or opt to ride 6km across the river to see Phepouak Cave, which contains a reclined Buddha statue, and stream at the foot of the mountain where you can swim. After 50km, we reach Kasi town for lunch – try the local specialty, sticky rice. Return by boat to Luang Prabang for lunch while your bikes will be transferred. After lunch, start the afternoon ride towards Phone Say village. Lying hidden along the Mekong River, the local women here weave textiles while the men fish. This charming village with bumpy dirt roads is perfect if you are looking for an adventure.
